Equanimity: The Balanced Heart a 4 day retreat of Dharma teachings, meditation, and mindful yoga as we explore the Buddha’s teachings on equanimity

Lead by: Stacie Overby and Diana May

Dates: Sep 10, 2026 - Sep 13, 2026

This retreat is devoted to the cultivation of equanimity, the sixth factor of awakening – a quality of heart that brings steadiness, clarity, and profound balance to our lives.

Equanimity is not passivity, nor is it withdrawal. It is the capacity to remain present and undisturbed in the midst of challenging conditions. As the Buddha teaches, the awakened heart is one that can meet pleasure and pain, gain and loss, praise and blame with wisdom and composure.

Through periods of guided meditation, Dharma teachings, and mindful movement, we will explore equanimity as both a natural capacity and a trainable skill. We will investigate how reactivity forms, how preference and aversion take hold, and how the cultivation of balance allows compassion and insight to deepen.

Supported by community and sustained practice, this retreat offers a space to strengthen the heart’s ability to remain steady without becoming closed, to care deeply without being overwhelmed, and to rest in a freedom that is not dependent on external circumstances.
